A band plays in the Parian, located in the center of town.

The name is fun to say, and pictures are fun to make in this tiny little pueblo in the state of Jalisco, Mexico. Tlaquepaque (pronounced sorta like tlah-kay-pah-kee – almost impossible for gringos to say correctly) is where we lived for 7 months, and it’s right next to Guadalajara, and right in the center of the two tequila producing regions of Mexico.

Little statues are for sale in the crafts markets all around town.

These are some of the first pictures I took of the town, back when my wife and I were just happy tourists. Because the town is so small, we made a lot of friends. Now that we’ve moved to Mexico City, we miss that.

The mercado (marketplace) is a walk back into the old world. It's located in the center of town, and sells chickens with the heads still on -- if you know what I mean. An awesome hardcore market!

More photos can be seen in my PhotoShelter gallery, “Tlaquepaque.”
